Toad blinked in the bright sun. “Help,” said Toad. “I cannot see anything.” “Don’t be silly,” said Frog. “What you see is the clear warm light of April. And it means that we can begin a whole new year together, Toad. Think of it,” said Frog. “We will skip through the meadows and run through the woods and swim in the river. In the evenings we will sit right here on this front porch and count the stars.” ~ Arnold Lobel, Frog and Toad are Friends
I think I might have to agree with this one… reminds me of a line in a song… ‘I seem to have grown myself a pair of old mans hands’. There is something meloncholy and accepting about it but hopeful and comforting at the same time. A bit like decorating. same walls underneath but everything looks brighter and refreshed. :-)
Oh my, how fitting! Did you get my e-mail in which I explain about that certain sketch I am working on? If not, let me know and I will resend because this quote is spot on to what I said about what I am doing, and why {smile}
Steve, I can relate to that: melancholy & accepting & hopeful & comforting at the same time. I need to remember this more, that’s all. Somehow there is a *rightness* to it.

Ah, Owen, I never knew, until I read your post, that this little quote had a good impact! It thrills me. =)
I’m don’t know how much of a perfectionist you are – though I know from your blog you are very organised! – but I know I am forever battling against that inner perfectionist who wants to tear out a mussed-up page and start over.
But our lives don’t work like that, do they? We’ve got this ONE page, and to me, that’s quite a revelation at this point in my life.

P.S. Nearly done too.

That’s nice – and true. Makes me think.
Probably worth remembering for ever, Zhisou!
